It’s holiday time :)

On Friday we’ll be winging our way to the Canary Island of Tenerife for a lovely week long holiday. What a wonderful thought. 7 days of (lets hope), Sunshine, sea, sand, sights, scrumcious food and mouth watering cocktails… oh yeah baby, Pina Colada’s are the business!

We fly very early on Friday morning so we’ll be rising at around 3am to get the airport on time – gives us the whole day on the other side.

Then, on Tuesday we we will celebrate 2 years of marriage – it has been such a fantastic 2 years, very busy and sometimes rather stressful but on the whole it has been brilliant. Kendall and I still get on as well as we did 8 years ago, if not better and that continues to make me the happiest Fishhii around. I am so grateful for everything in my life!

The sun is shining so bright today making everything take on a new hue. I so adore the sunshine especially when I can feel it heating me up from the inside – it is so SUNNYLICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m looking forward to the long evenings in the English Summer – braai’s, friends, long walks, wearing less clothes and hanging out in the garden :) When the sun smiles, so do I – I’m such a simple girl.

On a more random note I just love the Russian Meerkat on the Compare the Market advert – cracks me up every time. Since when were Meerkats Russian that’s what I’d like to know? I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when whichever bright spark in the Adverising team proposed the Russian Meerkat idea…the board must have been in stitches – hahahahahahaha

Moving on to more serious matters – if you have followed the Josef Fritzl story with his Dungeon family you will most probably be aware he is on trial now for his atrocities. What really get’s me is what was the man thinking? what drives a human being to place a member of his family in a dungeon for 24 years while she bore 7 of his incestuous children? The Pschie of this man must be completely warped! To Elizabeth and her Children wherever you are I hope you are doing okay under the circumstances and I sincerely hope that one day who will lead as close to a normal life as possible – You all surely deserve it.

Moving away from the misery now, the DA in South Africa have won the right for South Africans living temporarily abroad to vote in the upcoming elections! What a win! I urge all my fellow South Africans out there who are able to vote, to make the effort, head over to South Africa house in Trafalgar Square if you are in London and cast your vote on the 15 April 2009. If you are else where in the world find out where to go and get there! We all need to work together to make a difference, the sooner we all realise that, the better for all of us!

Okay so enough from me for now. We’ll post some pics when we back from holiday!

A Realisation

2009

So yesterday I came to a realisation somewhere between sleep and awake whereby if you want to change something, it’s up to you! I have decided that whatever you think you can be, you will be. The epiphany then dawned like light on a marble head that talking about achieving is one thing but acting is something so much more exciting. However, in order to prevent disappointment, careful thought needs to be given to which route you intend to take to get to the desired destination.

In my case I have decided once again to go back to school – no, not the uniform kind but the one you can do from the comfort of your own home. I want to work with Children, I always have but have been unsure of my ability to be brilliant in that field. No longer am I going to let a mental hurdle keep me from my passion and desire to be better, to be brilliant in an industry I know I will love. I’m in the process of choosing the courses I want to take and will hopefully decide on something fantastic soon :)

That being the one part of the realisation and the other being the fact that being grateful for the life we have is so vitally important to drawing more positive and truly awesome things into our lives. Whatever it is that we want is waiting anxiously behind the theatre curtain ready to reveal itself to us, but we have to be ready for the show. If we do in fact draw the things we truly desire into our existence why do we fear what is around the next corner? Why dont we belive what we want is already on route? A little faith I think goes a long way. Letting go of the negativity that is keeping the curtain down, living for the here and now! Look forward to what is coming, off course it’ll be fantastic. I choose that approach.

I’m so thankful for the amazing life that I have, everything I  have ever dreamed of has come true and there is still more to come – what a pleasure. My amazing husband Kendall once came up with this amazing phrase that is so true: “Time is a man made constraint to measure space”

On a lighter note: I have just finished the last Harry Potter book – ‘The Deathly Hallows’ – captivating from cover to cover! Find your inner child and read the series, its awesome! I’ve now started reading ‘The Bridge Across forever’ by Richard Bach and it is absorbing me. He is a fantastic writer!

Have a happy Tuesday all. Laugh at yourself once in a while and most of all be happy :)

Lucky number 9

Happy New Year everyone!

BBRRrrrrr… A rather chilly start to 2009 but hey what use is complaining going to do, besides no one can deny that snow is gorgeous and despite the fact that we had to rush off to work yesterday morning and therefore could not make a snowman or snow angels we still woke up to a white morning – enough to make anybody smile!

So, a new year begins – how exciting especially since 9 is both Kendall and I’s lucky numbers (We are both number 9 on the hockey field, even since before we met!) Now that is a brilliant sign me thinks! I’m looking so forward to embracing whatever 2009 has on offer which will no doubt be pretty cool, if I have anything to do with it that is :)

We off to Tenerife in March for a short break which we are really looking forward too. Who knows what the weather will be like but whatever the temperature fun will be had.

Some profound quotes I would like to share that make me smile and keep me happy:

To bring anything into your life, imagine that it’s already there. (Richard Bach)

Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you’ll see the way to fly. (Richard Bach)

To all – I wish you a magical 2009, stay healthy and be happy! Love you all longest time
